Having read Seymour Wilson’s article “The Tapestry Vision of Canadian Multiculturalism” (1993) and reviewed the DANC 1500 Lexicon, respond to the following questions:
* What is a “melting pot” and what is a “tapestry”? Which term do you think is most applicable to Canada and why?
* What is Canada’s official policy “multiculturalism” meant to achieve? In what ways do you think multiculturalism, as a policy, is helpful and/or unhelpful? What does it celebrate? What does it suppress?
* Of the other vocabulary in the Lexicon, what terms do you think are relevant to Canadian culture and why?
* If you were to update Willson’s article for readers in 2023, what ideas, concepts or contexts might you add or correct?
Respond in your own words, using a 12pt font, double-spacing and university standard language and grammar. Minimum 750 words / maximum 1000 words. Word (.doc or docx) and PDF files accepted.

In order to gain an understanding of multimedia applications and related technologies, you are going to take a deep dive into researching one of the topics below through a research essay. The goal of this research essay is for you to select a multimedia suite and explore all aspects and components so you might leverage its use in this course and future forward. Students should:
-Research (This section must have parenthetical citations) (about 3 pages)

There are two key sections to a consumer profile. The first is the demographic profile followed by the psychological profile.
Beginning with the demographics, start with the general population figure of your target audience (male and female individuals between the ages of 35 to 44) using the information from the U.S. Census Bureau.
https://www2.census.gov/library/publications/decennial/2020/census-briefs/c2020br-06.pdf
Then narrow that general population figure to a more specific target audience population. The target audience population can be determined by using the percentage figure found at the Home Industry Standard Design.

The Top 30 DIY Trends and Statistics You Need to Know [Updated for 2023]

Finally, include the appropriate demographic information on your target audience. These characteristics include ethnicity, geographical location, education, employment status, marital status, and household income/composition.
Psychographic data refers to your consumer’s attitude, aspirations, activities, interests, lifestyle and the like. For the purposes of this consumer profile and media plan, you should include their use of the various media types. Many times, you can review information on generational groups for psychographic information. In this case, your target audience is a mix of older Millennials and younger Gen Xers. Another direction to consider is general information on DIY consumers. There is plenty of information available online regarding the DIY consumer group. One good source is diyconsumer.com.

For this assignment, I want you to build a media contacts list. In public relations (part of working with the media) it’s important for PR professionals to have a media list that they keep up with on a continual basis. This media list should be for a certain demographic and geographic area that you want to focus on for the organization you work for.

For this assignment, you will need to complete all the bullets below for best results. You will create this as a paper assignment in terms of structure, but you can use charts and images throughout to help demonstrate why you have chosen these media contacts for your list. You will use this list again later in the semester as part of your overall final project.

For this assignment, you must have at least two sources (you can use your text as one – websites are okay). You must include answers to all the following bullets within your paper.
Pick an organization or company that you want to use for this class (you will pretend to be their media relations/public relations professional for this class).
Explain who you have chosen and why you have chosen them. They can be a small, medium, or large organization/company.
Who is their demographic or target audience? (Ages, gender, income/socio-economic status, area of the country or world) – you cannot say, everyone.
What is this company/organization’s mission?
Pick the different types of media types or mediums that they would want to appeal to for news coverage or even advertising.
These should be print newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, internet and please explain why for each medium. Why did you choose them?
Create a list of all these mediums and see if you can find at least one contact for them and add it to your chart (hint – use their website). You must have at least four types of media represented. Explain why you chose them.
For example – if Myrtle Beach was part of your market, these would be how you could showcase your TV choices. Please note these should NOT be employees of the company you’re profiling. These should be media members who you want to COVER you.

You need to have a minimum of 6 media sources – NONE should be the company you are representing.
Write a one-page synopsis after your media list and chart is complete about how you would use this list to help maintain a relationship with the media and have good “media relationships”. You can even explain what types information you may share with them based on the company/organization you choose to profile.

Caution – I wouldn’t recommend doing a national branded company like Coke or Pepsi, this list would be world-wide. Try and think more local or regional to help you narrow your list. Be creative and pick something fun!

Format: APA or MLA, Times New Roman, 12pt. font – Double Space, Cover Page & References pages do not count towards page count.
Sources: Minimum of two (you may use your text as one)
Length – 3.5 Pages Minimum – 6 Pages Max
*Cover pages and works cited/reference pages do not count towards page count.
Points – 75 Points
