In research writing, most body paragraphs use quotations, paraphrases, or summar

In research writing, most body paragraphs use quotations, paraphrases, or summaries as evidence, the “E” in MEAL plan. These paragraphs consist of the main idea or topic sentence, evidence or supporting detail, analysis or interpretation of evidence, and links if more paragraphs follow.
Your task. Use this link to find a short article to write a MEAL Plan summary paragraph OR use one of the sources considered for the annotations in your team plan, 4-a. (A link sentence at the end is not needed.) https://www.dogonews.com/ You may also google a short news or other story. Try to use simple APA in-text citations for the source (“The author says…”) and integrate a short quote or paraphrase or two. Try to avoid duplication of responses. Finally, cite the reference below your paragraph in reasonably correct APA style.
Example. An article in USA Today by Gerald Imray (2023) discusses the emergency landing of a South African plane after the pilot discovered a snake in the cockpit. Pilot Rudolf Erasmus said he “felt something cold slide across his lower back.” This turned out to be a highly venomous cobra. Erasmus commented, “It was as if my brain didn’t know what was going on.” This shows the shock Erasmus felt. Still, he continued the flight announcing the snake to the four passengers on the small plane. The pilot noted the passengers were “shocked into silence.” Air traffic controllers helped the plane land safely in central South Africa.

Prepare: Digital and interactive media allows consumers to stay up-to-date with the latest news while they are on the go. It also allows them the opportunity to become involved in the news gathering process in some instances. In other instances it allows them to be able to “talk back” to media outlets to let them know the types of news they are interested in. While it may seem that this is an asset to news organizations, it can often be challenging for them to truly figure out how to give the audience what they want while maintaining the integrity of sound journalism. Read Chapters 7 and 8 in the textbook. Then, read the information on the following websites:

6 Ways Writing for Online Is Different Than Print

Reflect: After reading the material, consider the following:
How do you believe news organizations who deliver digital content will have to change to compete with alternative forms of digital media?
Does branding the journalist seem like a viable option for attracting readers?

Write: After considering the news offerings of your local news media outlets, write a 250-300 word response that addresses each of the questions. In your initial post, you must include at least one in-text citation from the reading material and an additional in-text citation from a scholarly source that you locate in the Ashford University Library or from another credible source. At the end of your post, include your name and a full reference for all sources cited in the body of your post. All citations and references must adhere to APA style guidelines as outlined in the Writing Center Links to an external site.
