First, select one of the health care settings described in the following resource: Assessment 02 Supplement: Protected Health Information [PDF]Download Assessment 02 Supplement: Protected Health Information [PDF] As a nurse in this setting, you are asked to create the content for a staff update containing a maximum of two content pages that address one or more of these topics: Social media best practices. What not to do: social media. Social media risks to patient information. Steps to take if a breach occurs. This assessment is not a traditional essay. It is a staff educational update about PHI. Consider creating a flyer, pamphlet, or one PowerPoint slide (not an entire presentation). Remember it should not be more than two pages (excluding a title and a reference page). The task force has asked team members assigned to the topics to include the following content in their updates in addition to content on their selected topics: What is protected health information (PHI)? Be sure to include essential HIPAA information. What are privacy, security, and confidentiality? Define and provide examples of privacy, security, and confidentiality concerns related to the use of technology in health care. Explain the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to safeguard sensitive electronic health information. What evidence relating to social media usage and PHI do interprofessional team members need to be aware of? For example: What are some examples of nurses being terminated for inappropriate social media use in the United States? What types of sanctions have health care organizations imposed on interdisciplinary team members who have violated social media policies? What have been the financial penalties assessed against health care organizations for inappropriate social media use? What evidence-based strategies have health care organizations employed to prevent or reduce confidentiality, privacy, and security breaches, particularly related to social media usage? Notes Your staff update is limited to two double-spaced content pages. Be selective about the content you choose to include in your update so you can meet the page length requirement. Include need-to-know information. Omit nice-to-know information. Many times people do not read staff updates, do not read them carefully, or do not read them to the end. Ensure your staff update piques staff members’ interest, highlights key points, and is easy to read. Avoid overcrowding the update with too much content. Also, supply a separate reference page that includes two or three peer-reviewed and one or two non-peer-reviewed resources (for a total of 3–5 resources) to support the staff update content.

ents will work in groups of 4-5 to design a QI project. The purpose of this project is to create an opportunity to practice using various QI tools and Charters in an applied project where students experience working in teams.
This project is divided into three key components. All teams will choose a Healthcare Quality Issue. Information on Healthcare Quality issues can be found as you read/review the materials in the course, book, and IHI Modules. The Groups will work on this Quality issue – developing a plan to improve the outcomes. All elements need to be completed. You will use the steps in the Charter Assignment you complete in the course – this will help with the elements for the Final Paper and Presentation. Follow the Healthcare Quality Project grading rubric.
1) Quality Improvement Project: All teams will create a Paper and Presentation. These must include an identified Healthcare quality issue – receive topic approval from instructor
· Include a diagnostic QI tool, like a flowchart or cause and effect diagram
· Include a data collection chart relevant to the project (bar chart, run chart, etc.) This chart should measure pre-post intervention.
· Consider: completeness, demonstration of critical thinking about a QI opportunity, and design aesthetics in presentation.
· Paper needs to briefly explain all elements of the presentation (transcriipt to accompany the presentation).
· The paper will explain in detail the brainstorming and aim statement
2) Presentation: Each team will give a 10-12 minute presentation about their project – voice-recorded. The presentation will clearly cover the 9 components on the Storyboard template.
a) at least one QI Tool (perhaps more)
b) at least one measure and the data collection and display process
These Healthcare Quality Project voice-recorded presentations and papers will be submitted at the end of the semester. All team members need to be responsible for a portion of the presentation. The presentation will be evaluated based on content (all 9 components included), team cohesion, and basic presentation skills. This needs to demonstrate shared work and shared presentation responsibilities.
Instructions for Storyboard/Poster:
All teams will create a Storyboard/Poster.

First your group will choose a Healthcare Quality Issue. Please have one person in your group submit your Healthcare QI issue in Blackboard for approval.
A healthcare quality improvement (QI) poster should include the following elements:
Title: Clearly reflect the project’s contents or conclusion statement
Background: Provide a brief explanation of the project’s purpose, history, and intent
Problem statement: Define the problem or scientific question that the project investigated
Aim: Include SMART aims that specify what, who, how much, and when
Interventions: Clearly state what changes were made, such as PDSA cycles
Results: Show the effects of the changes, such as PDSA data or a run chart
Conclusions: Include learning and what’s next
Tools: Highlight the QI activities and tools used in the project
Contact details: Include contact details and social media links for more information

The Storyboard/Poster must include a project related diagnostic QI tool like flowchart or cause and effect diagram. The storyboard must also include a data collection chart relevant to the project (bar chart, run chart, etc.). This chart would measure pre-post intervention.

Storyboards/Posters will be evaluated on completeness, demonstration of critical thinking about a QI opportunity, and design aesthetics. All nine required components must be addressed. The board must include at least one QI tool and an appropriate data chart.

Instructions for Presentations:
Each team will give a 10-12 minute presentation about their project. The presentation will clearly cover the 9 components on the Storyboard template. The presentation will explain in detail a) the brainstorming and aim statement writing process b) at least one QI Tool (perhaps more) c) at least one measure and the data collection and display process. These presentations need to be voice-recorded with each team member presenting on the same presentation.

All team members need to present in the presentation. All team members need to be responsible for a portion of the presentation. The presentation will be evaluated based on content (all 9 components included), team cohesion, and basic presentation skills.

The team must submit a rough outline of the plan for who will be speaking. This could take the form of an outline or slides or list of bullet points. Submit this outline in a separate document, with your presentation.

Submit the Storyboard/Poster Presentation by Sunday, December 1st@ 11:59pm.

The Required Unit Resources for this unit examined how a growing population that is living longer and requiring more healthcare services than ever before will contribute to many challenges in the future of health care. The readings highlighted that while an ongoing issue, emergency department (ED) overcrowding and quality of service is certain to continue to worsen as a result without innovation and quality initiatives.
For this project, you will synthesize many concepts covered in this course to analyze this problem and outline a quality improvement initiative that can create positive change.

Problem: This hospital in the District of Columbia ranks as one of the worst in the entire nation for ED timely and effective care.
Goal: Create a systems-wide approach to substantially improve aspects of ED operation and care that will dramatically improve wait times to be seen, wait times until admission, and reduction of left-without-being-seen rates to meet or register below national averages.
You will need to perform any additional research on this hospital that is needed to support your project. Note: As you research this hospital, you will find it is ranked highly in other areas and specialties, even having received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. Researching this hospital’s initiatives that led to this may be helpful.
Your project should reflect theories discussed in this course (e.g., lean, Six Sigma) and must utilize the Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDCA) approach. It must include the following:
a brief summary of the problem, to include data supporting the need for change;
a quality improvement initiative proposal, to include specific desired outcomes;
suggested implementation strategies that will be most effective to achieve quality improvement;
social marketing approaches to ensure widest awareness and participation in the initiative;
a measurement plan, to include the tools that will be most effective to measure change, and how ongoing performance will be monitored to prevent regression and loss of the positive change that has taken place,
an analysis of the roles leadership, staff, and patients will play in the improvement initiative; and
a summary of the benefits and long term effects if the desired outcomes are achieved.
include a detailed analysis of the historical impact of quality management goals within the healthcare industry.
determine the connections between managed care processes and how these assist with the goals of a health care organization.
interpret the major role a healthcare accreditation organization plays in the U.S., and include at least one example of an accreditor.
Your project will be a minimum of four pages, not counting any title or reference pages. You must use at least four scholarly sources to support your project. These sources do not include any hospital statistical or data sources that you utilize.
All sources used must be properly cited. Adhere to APA Style when creating all citations and references for this assignment.
