Some factors that delayed Barbara’s treatment was her job, as well as her not feeling any symptoms, with the knowledge of how long she has until she needed surgery she decided to wait it out while seeing the doctors, also she stated because genetically there was no family history of heart disease. A psychological response Barbara exhibited when told she needed open heart surgery was shock and fear that turned into denial , she stated she went to four different doctors for their opinion before considering doing the surgery. Based on the BIO-PSYCHO-SOCIAL assessment model, two areas that affected Barbara’s journey to make her decision for treatment were physical illness and Social support. This paper is meant to be a short (5-page limit) logical, philosophical argument about a healthcare issue for which you have a strong opinion. This issue could be drawn from health policy, advanced nursing practice healthcare delivery, a need for quality improvement or access to care within health care systems, health care reform, inter-professional collaboration, etc. You will begin with a powerful statement comprised of one sentence. You will search the literature to identify how this topic has been theoretically and conceptually presented in the nursing and healthcare literature, including empirical evidence that supports both the pros and cons of your position. An adapted version of The Toulmin Model of Argument (2003) developed by British philosopher Stephen Toulmin, will be used as a guideline for the process of constructing your argument.
