An Exercise in the Clinical Application of Logic Theory
This paper is meant to be a short (5-page limit) logical, philosophical argument about a healthcare issue for which you have a strong opinion.  This issue could be drawn from health policy, advanced nursing practice healthcare delivery, a need for quality improvement or access to care within health care systems, health care reform, inter-professional collaboration, etc. You will begin with a powerful statement comprised of one sentence.  You will search the literature to identify how this topic has been theoretically and conceptually presented in the nursing and healthcare literature, including empirical evidence that supports both the pros and cons of your position.  An adapted version of The Toulmin Model of Argument (2003) developed by British philosopher Stephen Toulmin, will be used as a guideline for the process of constructing your argument.
The following are some examples of argument statements:
“All pregnant patients receiving federally funded health care should be given the option of a Nurse Midwife as their provider for prenatal care, because maternal patient outcomes have shown improvement when care is provided using this model of delivery”
“Medicare health insurance system should be available to all adults over 50 years, because patients over 50 but younger than 65 cannot afford to meet their health care needs”
Required Outline for paper:
Part one:
1. Clearly provide your argument statement in the one sentence format as described above and in module material.
2. Correctly label all parts of the argument statement with the correct parts of the Toulmin model (Claim, Data, Warrants, Backing,) after your research add rebuttals, qualifiers
3. Why did you choose this argument/issue?
Part two:
Identify/group your evidence, be sure to identify which “type” of evidence (warrants or backing) then use a subheading of pros-and discuss the evidence -based (literature) especially how it supports your argument.
Then use a subheading of cons- review the evidence (again identify which are warrants or backing) and discuss how it argues against your issues. Also offer rebuttals to these cons, which should also come from literature.  Add Warrants (culturally held values, beliefs, societal held norms) and backing (evidence-based facts from reliable sources such as: national organizations such as CDC, AHA, NIH, etc.)
Part three:
Summarize be sure to address all aspects listed on the grading rubric.  What did you learn from this exercise?

NB: The next page in the module has an example of this assignment for your reference.

TO PREPARE Review the Skin Conditions document provided in this week’s Learning

TO PREPARE
Review the Skin Conditions document provided in this week’s Learning Resources, and select one condition to closely examine for this Lab Assignment.
Consider the abnormal physical characteristics you observe in the graphic you selected. How would you describe the characteristics using clinical terminologies?
Explore different conditions that could be the cause of the skin abnormalities in the graphics you selected.
Consider which of the conditions is most likely to be the correct diagnosis, and why.
Search the Walden library for one evidence-based practice, peer-reviewed article based on the skin condition you chose for this Lab Assignment.
Review the Comprehensive SOAP Exemplar found in this week’s Learning Resources to guide you as you prepare your SOAP note.
Download the SOAP Template found in this week’s Learning Resources, and use this template to complete this Lab Assignment.
THE LAB ASSIGNMENT
Choose one skin condition graphic (identify by number in your Chief Complaint) to document your assignment in the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note format rather than the traditional narrative style. Refer to Chapter 2 of the Sullivan text and the Comprehensive SOAP Template in this week’s Learning Resources for guidance. Remember that not all comprehensive SOAP data are included in every patient case.
Use clinical terminologies to explain the physical characteristics featured in the graphic. Formulate a differential diagnosis of five possible conditions for the skin graphic that you chose. Determine which is most likely to be the correct diagnosis and explain your reasoning using at least three different references, one reference from current evidence-based literature from your search and two different references from this week’s Learning Resources.
Outcome Using the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note format: ·  Create documentation, following SOAP format, of your assignment to choose one skin condition graphic (identify by number in your Chief Complaint). ·  Use clinical terminologies to explain the physical characteristics featured in the graphic. –The response clearly, accurately, and thoroughly follows the SOAP format to document one skin condition graphic and accurately identifies the graphic by number in the Chief Complaint. The response clearly and thoroughly explains all physical characteristics featured in the graphic using accurate terminologies.
Formulate a different diagnosis of three to five possible considerations for the skin graphic.    ·  Determine which is most likely to be the correct diagnosis, and explain your reasoning using at least three different references from current evidence-based literature. — The response clearly, thoroughly, and accurately formulates a different diagnosis of five possible considerations for the skin graphic. The response determines the most likely correct diagnosis with reasoning that is explained clearly, accurately, and thoroughly using three or more different references from current evidence-based literature.

TO PREPARE
Review this week’s Learning Resources and consider factors that impact the validity and reliability of various assessment tools and diagnostic tests. You also will review examples of pediatric patients and their families as it relates to BMI.
Based on the risks you might identify consider what further information you would need to gain a full understanding of the child’s health. Think about how you could gather this information in a sensitive fashion.
Consider how you could encourage parents or caregivers to be proactive toward the child’s health.
THE ASSIGNMENT (BE SURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO WRITE THE PAPER PLEASE)
Assignment (3–4 pages, not including title and reference pages):
Assignment: Child Health Case:
Include the following:
An explanation of the health issues and risks that are relevant to the child you were assigned.
Describe additional information you would need in order to further assess his or her weight-related health.
Identify and describe any risks and consider what further information you would need to gain a full understanding of the child’s health. Think about how you could gather this information in a sensitive fashion.
Taking into account the parents’ and caregivers’ potential sensitivities, list at least three specific questions you would ask about the child to gather more information.
Provide at least two strategies you could employ to encourage the parents or caregivers to be proactive about their child’s health and weight.
RUBRIC PLEASE USE!!
In 3 pages, address the following: An explanation of the health issues and risks that are relevant to the child you were assigned. — The response clearly, accurately, and in detail explains the relevant health issues and risks for the assigned child.
Describe additional information you would need in order to further assess his or her weight-related health. —  The response clearly and accurately describes detailed additional information needed to further assess the child’s weight-related health.
Identify and describe any risks, and consider what further information you would need to gain a full understanding of the child’s health. Think about how you could gather this information in a sensitive fashion. —  The response clearly and accurately identifies and describes in detail any risks to the child’s health. The response clearly and accurately identifies and describes in detail further information needed to gain a full understanding of the child’s health, with a detailed explanation of how to gather that information in a way that is sensitive to the child.
Taking into account the parents’ and caregivers’ potential sensitivities, list at least three specific questions you would ask about the child to gather more information. — The response clearly and accurately lists three or more specific questions that would gather more information about the child. Now reflect on the integration of epidemiology and genomics in the resolving another health care problem that you know of. Use specific examples of epidemiological and genomic concepts and practices used. How did policies affect the strategies used to resolve the problem or were new polices created?
Part III: Future Practice Role (2 – 2.5 pages)
Describe how genomic epidemiological may apply to your chosen advanced practice (education, nurse practitioner, leadership) Be specific related to the area of practice and how you believe genomic epidemiology will change health outcomes for individuals and populations. Explore one ethical principle you will need to consider. (This should be from your own perspective)

For this Assignment, you practice assessing and diagnosing patients with anxiety

For this Assignment, you practice assessing and diagnosing patients with anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD. Review the DSM-5-TR criteria for the disorders within these classifications before you get started, as you will be asked to justify your differential diagnosis with DSM-5-TR criteria.Consider what history would be necessary to collect from this patient.
Consider what interview questions you would need to ask this patient.
Identify at least three possible differential diagnoses for the patient.
