For this assessment, you will research a health care problem or issue faced by current health care organizations.

For this assessment, research best practices related to a current health care problem. Your selected problem or issue will be utilized again in Assessment 4. To explore your chosen topic, you should use the first two steps of the Socratic Problem-Solving Approach to aid your critical thinking.
Select one of the health care problems or issues presented in the Assessment 02 Supplement: Applying Research Skills [PDF] Download Assessment 02 Supplement: Applying Research Skills [PDF] resource. Write a brief overview of the selected health care problem or issue. In your overview:
Summarize the health care problem or issue.
Describe the professional relevance of this topic.
Describe any professional experience you have with this topic.
Identify peer-reviewed articles relevant to this health care issue or problem.
Conduct a search for scholarly or academic peer-reviewed literature related to the topic and describe the criteria you used to search for articles, including the names of the databases you used. You will select four current scholarly or academic peer-reviewed journal articles published during the past 3–5 years that relate to your topic.

Analyze academic peer-reviewed journal articles using the annotated bibliography organizational format. Provide a rationale for inclusion of each selected article. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to document a list of references along with key information about each one. The detail about the reference is the annotation. Developing this annotated bibliography will create a foundation of knowledge about the selected topic. In your annotated bibliography:
Identify the purpose of the article.
Summarize the information.
Provide rationale for inclusion of each article.
Include the conclusions and findings of the article.
Write your annotated bibliography in a paragraph form. The annotated bibliography should be approximately 150 words (1–3 paragraphs) in length.
List the full reference for the source in APA format (author, date, title, publisher, et cetera) and use APA format for the annotated bibliography.
Make sure the references are listed in alphabetical order, are double-spaced, and use hanging indents.
Summarize what you have learned while developing an annotated bibliography.
Summarize what you learned from your research in a separate paragraph or two at the end of the paper.
List the main points you learned from your research.
Summarize the main contributions of the sources you chose and how they enhanced your knowledge about the topic.

OVERVIEW
Consistent with the module objectives, the purpose of this assignment is to explore the ethics related to family nursing practice.  Select one of the two case studies listed below and respond to the concerns raised related to this case.  Support your discussion using at least 1-2 professional nurse practitioner or medical journal by the end of Week 9. Respond to the posts of at least two colleagues by the due date. Case Study #1
Susie, age 45 years, and Johny, age 50 years, present to the healthcare clinic to consult with the APRN about their pregnancy.  They are pregnant with their first child.  It was recommended to them by their nurse midwife that they consider genetic testing and screening. Susie has a strong family history of cystic fibrosis (her sister and mother both had disease), and Johny has a strong family history of sickle cell anemia (his father and brother have this disease).  Susie and Johny have mixed feelings about the genetic testing.  As their primary care provider, how will you assess them, and what intervention strategies might you use to support them?

Mrs. Jones, age 88 years, recently presented with rectal bleeding x 2 weeks.  She is more fatigued than normal, pale and weak in appearance and has developed a significant cardiac murmur which was not present on her last well exam three months ago.  She has declined any preventive screening such as a colonoscopy or pelvic exam despite a strong family history of colon cancer.  A physical exam reveals a large friable mass extending from her recturm.  As the APRN primary care provider, you recommend additional diagnostic testing, and have offered to talk to her son (age 62 years) and daughter (age 60 years).  She declines further diagnostic testing, and absolutely forbids you to talk to her children.  What is the best course of action?

We are in an era of artificial intelligence (AI). The use of AI in higher education has drawn some significant debate. Its use is integrating more and more, so comprehending how to use it is important. You will use AI for this assignment. AI has been faulted with removing feelings and emotion with generic computerized responses. For this assignment you will ask one person a narrative qualitative question and put the same question into the AI chatbot to obtain it’s response.
Narrative Qualitative Question: Describe your experiences with life during and following COVID-19.
You will transcribe (word for word) the person’s response in the discussion question with their initials next to it. (For example if I respond to the question you would use N.S. for Nicole Stephens).

I am also more aware of the importance of taking care of myself mentally and physically.
Overall, the pandemic has been a difficult experience, but it has also taught me a lot about life and how to navigate it. I am thankful for all the opportunities I have been able to take advantage of, and I am looking forward to a future filled with new experiences.”

Short Paper

This paper will be written in APA format.  Please see the resource in your Student Handbook for APA directions.  The paper should be three to four, double- spaced pages in length with at least three references from current and professional sources.
1.  Write a case scenario of a nurse interacting with a patient from a different country and culture.  Choose one of these countries, China, Mexico, India, Iran, South Korea.
2.  Use the six factors on p. 316, Box 15-2 (verbal and nonverbal communication, personal space, body language, time orientation, social organization, and the person’s perspective on environmental control) as a framework for the paper and scenario.
3.  In your case study, the nurse should have some behaviors that are congruent with the patient’s culture and at least four behaviors that are not considerate of the patient’s cultural specifics.
4.  In your paper, following the case scenario, present the specifics of the patient’s culture and point out what the nurse did that was considerate and what the nurse did that was not considerate and why.
5.  Give a brief argument for why cultural competence would lead to a higher quality of care for the person in your case study.
