Caroline Jones is a cat breeder and veterinarian, and the owner of Feline Heaven. Jones exhibits her cats at shows, at which she has won many awards, and sells her cats to other breeders. Her cats and cattery are registered with the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) in Iowa. Emails purporting to be from Jones’s employees and customers were sent to the CFA, alleging, among other things, that her cats were kept in deplorable conditions and treated cruelly and inhumanely. Reviews were posted falsely online stating that Jones was “a crazy cat lady” whose veterinarian license was revoked. Jones filed a suit in an Iowa state court, alleging defamation and emotional distress. A response to a subpoena identified the author of many of the emails and reviews as Elsie Williams, a competing breeder. The court entered a judgment in Jones’s favor and awarded her damages for the harm to her reputation, loss of income, and emotional distress. Williams appealed, arguing that the evidence did not support the award. Was Jones entitled to damages for defamation? In addition, the law provides for the protection of one’s reputation from false claims. Is this rooted in scriptural teaching? After reading Proverbs 22:1 and Ecclesiastes 7:1, please explain.

This week, you learned about the “public” in public health, citizen participation in the practice of public health, the three core functions of public health, and the organization of public health and its essential services. For this project, create a 6-page paper that addresses the following: What would it mean if public health practitioners thought of the public in a democratic sense rather than just a demographic one? Some have started by working with citizens to name issues in public terms; others have begun by encouraging deliberative decision-making in forums. In this approach, consider how you would establish a democratic opportunity for the community. Where would you hold the discussions? Who should be “at the table?” What method might you use to facilitate the discussions so that all voices are heard? Select a community health issue and describe how you would go about this civic discourse to examine the issue and bring to the community possible solutions to address that issue.

Assess a current semi-direct or indirect nursing situation that is in need of change. Observe your healthcare environment, focusing on areas of nursing process that are inefficient, unsafe, or problematic in nature. Diagnose the problem and choose a nursing change theory that suits the change you want to make. Propose a detailed plan based on your chosen change theory, explaining how to implement change. Develop criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan and include a timeline for your change proposal. Reflect on how your change affects the nursing profession. Write a 3-5 page paper following the criteria below: Your paper should include primary sources and include at least two peer-reviewed nursing journal articles. Citations should be in your own words and not direct quotes. Include a title page, appropriate headings, and reference page. The paper should be double spaced, written in Times New Roman, 12-point font, follow APA style format, and cite all sources correctly.

he word “contract” is not found in the Bible. However, the word “covenant” is found frequently. A covenant means an alliance or a pledge and in many ways is similar to a contract. I maintain that our relationships with God, in my opinion, often look like a contract or, as the scripture puts it, a covenant. For example, God offers us everlasting life if we accept Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, recognizing that we must repent for our sins and follow His teachings. What other examples of covenants are found in Scripture? In addition, what importance does the Bible place on keeping one’s word? Why are these things so closely intertwined? Explain. This has to be 2-3 pages and APA style

Submit a 1- to 2-page critical reflection in which you describe how you envision yourself working with and advocating for diverse populations using cultural humility. Be specific. Please include: The external barriers to continuing to develop your cultural humility (e.g., institutional policies or procedures, funding, language differences, skeptical attitudes from others concerning your motives) and how you might address them. The internal/personal barriers to continuing to develop your cultural humility (e.g., fear, lack of confidence, time pressures) and how you might address them. Please make liberal use of the Learning Resources to enrich your reflection. Note: When formulating your plans for continued development, consider that the history of dominant/nondominant interactions is full of examples where dominant group members seek firsthand contact and information from nondominant members, only to use that information to co-opt and/or exploit them. This being the case, please do not assume that your presence will be automatically welcomed within nondominant circles.

Submit a 1- to 2-page critical reflection in which you respond to the following: Describe a person you interact with on a regular basis who: Does not share your cultural background Challenges your assumptions or beliefs and/or subscribes to beliefs you may not hold (Some possibilities are a colleague, acquaintance, family member, someone in a service or retail position for an establishment you frequent, or a member of the public you serve in your job.) Identify the challenges that you have faced in connecting and creating a relationship with this person. What steps do you need to take to overcome these challenges and develop an authentic relationship with this person? Do you think this person wants/would welcome developing a more connected relationship with you? What disadvantages might there be for them in forging a closer relationship with you? Considering your professional role, how will you create a cultural “third space,” as described by Abumrad, when interacting with people who are different from you? What are the advantages of cultivating professional relationships with others outside your culture in this way? Reference the Learning Resources to enrich your reflection. References: Dolan, T.
