The Three Big Questions:
How did classical criminology emerge as a response to the criminal justice practices of its time? What were the main criticisms it leveled against existing systems? How did neoclassical criminology modify or build upon classical ideas? What factors led to these developments? Discuss the concept of “marginal deterrence” in neoclassical criminology. How does this refine the classical view of deterrence?
Analyze the concept of “nature vs. nurture” in the context of criminology. How do biological, biosocial, and psychological theories address this debate?
How do life-course theories integrate both structural and social process elements in explaining criminal behavior? What are the main criticisms of structural theories of crime? How do social process theories address these limitations
Please answer these three big questions based on the slideshows, readings, and expand knowledge. use a peace and justice lens to discuss, apply, and evaluate. once these questions are answered I myself will turn it into a 5 page paper. Most of the paper is already written. I received some feedback from my course director and just do not have time to make the edits. I am just really bad at doing citations and even just citing my work according to APA format. Don’t need too much added to the paper but ill leave below the feedback my director provided. I don’t really see the need for visual aids or diagrams on the paper. Paper definitely needs a lot of formatting corrections. Thank you.

You are to select one of these topics/chapters, read that chapter, and prepare a reaction paper.

Your reaction paper IS NOT A SUMMARY of the chapter. Do not just tell me what the chapter says. I already know what they all say. Instead, you should focus on a few of the topics presented in the chapter and provide a critical reaction to the ideas presented in that chapter. Some examples for ways to approach this are: What did you find to be the most interesting aspects of the chapter? Least interesting aspects of the chapter? Did anything in the chapter surprise you and why? Can you think of any cases (in the national news or locally) that apply to the material in your chapter? How does the material in your chapter relate to other disciplines than criminal justice? Would you be interested in taking a class that covers the topic in-depth and why?
