 Since the 1970’s, the United States has experienced unprecedented growth of incarceration. This growth has resulted in what may be referred to as “mass incarceration”. First, briefly define mass incarceration and provide some data that indicates the scope of this phenomenon. Second, argue WHY you think the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world (e.g., more crime, better police, tougher laws, targeting certain groups, etc.). Finally, briefly discuss the pros and cons of the growth of incarceration and argue whether policies contributing to mass incarceration should be maintained or reformed. If you think maintained, briefly explain why. If you think reformed, please suggest one or two reforms you think may be most beneficial. 

 
In Module 6, our focus was on a critical part of the research process: measurement. The assigned readings presented some discussion (and evidence) that illustrated how measurement is considered and refined in criminology/criminal justice. Among other attributes, we are generally concerned with the validity and reliability of our measures, which reflect accuracy in capturing real-world constructs and facilitate repeatability in future studies.
In this week’s discussion, explain how you see the issue of measurement when you read coursework or outside material related to criminal justice. What issues seem to be measured pretty well, and which ones are lacking, in your view? Does our discipline talk enough about measurement, or should it be emphasized more? And finally, if you were conducting criminology/criminal justice research, what do you think would be the MOST difficult constructs to measure?

Apply 3 ethical strategies that will address the challenge.
Examine the role you will have as an advocate.
Discuss how advocacy can be used for this situation.

PART 2
Select 2 techniques (from below) and describe how you would incorporate this into an “aftercare plan” for an inmate that you are working with as they prepare to transition out of the prison system and back to society. What steps would you take to support their successful transition back to the community? 
Learning how to delay and distract in response to cravings, by engaging in constructive activities, writing (e.g., journaling), communicating with supportive others, going to meetings, and other positive means by which to ride out the wave of craving until it subsides.
Identifying dysfunctional ways of thinking (e.g., “permission-giving beliefs”) and getting into the habit of thinking and writing effective responses. Practicing the behaviors and attitudes of self-respect, including counteracting beliefs that otherwise undermine oneself and lead to helplessness and hopelessness (e.g., “I’m a bad person anyway, so I might as well mess up my life by using.”).
Utilizing healthy social support, such as 12-step fellowship (12SF) meetings, friends and family who support sobriety, and staying away from those who would undermine therapeutic goals.
Making lifestyle changes that support sobriety and self-efficacy, including having a healthy daily routine, refraining from cursing and raging, engaging in meaningful hobbies, and doing things that promote spirituality and serenity (e.g., yoga).
 

Explain the differences between the treatment and punishment concepts.
Examine types of treatment versus types of punishment for juvenile crimes.
Build the case for which one (i.e., treatment, punishment, or combination of both) you believe has the stronger position based on your research and the specific juvenile crime to which you will apply the concepts of treatment and punishment. Support which juvenile justice intervention strategy would be most effective to counter the crime or criminal justice issue based on your research.
Summarize which concept (i.e., treatment, punishment, or combination) best supports the overarching concept of social justice.

Overview
Many organizations have adopted cloud computing. In this assignment, you will research cloud computing and explore its advantages and disadvantages. You will also consider best practices for adopting cloud computing, selecting a particular cloud computing service model, and assessing and mitigating security risks.
For your research, please consult Chapters 13 and 14 of your textbook and these articles:
“A Brief Review: Security Issues in Cloud Computing and Their Solutions.”
“Cloud Computing Security Risks: Identification and Assessment.”
“Cloud Computing – Recent Trends in Information Technology.”
Note: If you wish you may consult additional articles, but this is not required.
Requirements
Specifically, you will write a 3 pages paper in which you:
Outline the planning process that needs to be in place before adopting cloud computing.

Be sure to identify the stakeholders who need to be involved and the discussions that need to take place.

Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing.
Describe the methodology you would use to select a cloud computing service model.
Review the security risks and mitigation activities that need to take place before adopting cloud computing.
Go to Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to locate and integrate into the assignment at least three quality, peer-reviewed academic resources, written within the past five years.

Include your textbook as one of your resources.
Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.

 Discuss the similarities and differences between 12 step approaches and two therapeutic approaches. Use at least 3 current (last 5 to 10 years) research articles from scholarly sources to show examples of the different approaches. In addition, address the following questions: Which type of treatment or 12 step approach or combination of approaches do you believe is most effective? Which approach or approaches do you think would be most effective in the CJS and why?
