Provide a brief synopsis of the social problem and policy you identified.
Describe the steps of your project:

How did your experiences as a social work professional and your own goals for advocacy inform your selection of a social problem?

When looking at a holistic with individuals is looking at the whole person and addressing other parts of their life and not just treating what is right in front of them. Holistic cand be defined as a holistic and multidimensional state of being that guides one to achieve one’s full potential (Fullen, 2018).  Working with a older population and looking at how their life is if they are able to get out into the community or if they have the ability to move around in the outdoors. Holistic wellness can help with addressing some of those issues. Working with the older population when these domains, are put into place the biological, psychological, and social aspects of personhood.
Working with and individual on holistic wellness and focusing on their social aspect can help with increasing the wanting to be more active in life. Looking at how active they are and helping them with getting out in the community or helping with getting someone to come into the house. One way to do this is finding community activities that can help with getting them out and interacting with other individuals. Helping with living life to fullest. Looking at different parts of their life such as physical wellness, social wellness, emotional wellness,  and spiritual wellness (Fullen, 2018).
Physical Wellness is helping them to be more active with simple exercises or getting activities that are engaged with older adults.
Social Wellness is helping with getting them out in the community with community centers, or activities that can keep them active. Making sure that they have people engaged in their life and that can also be with working on video calls with family members.
Emotional Wellness making sure that they are feeling good with where they are at in life. Looking at how they are feeling with the choices they have made through out their life. Making sure they are finding things to do that make them happy and they are having a fulfilling life.
Spiritual Wellness seeing if these needs are being met, if they are able to get to the church or religious gathering that they prefer. This can be very important in the well being of individuals in their life.
Helping with getting these needs met in there life can help with the person a whole.

Addressing wellness holistically in the elderly/aging population is crucial due to the complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors that influence their well-being. As individuals age, they experience various changes and challenges, including physical decline, cognitive changes, social losses, and exxistential concerns. A holistic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of these domains and aims to address the whole person, not just their presenting problems (Brandell, 2020).
One modality particularly suited for promoting holistic wellness in older adults is Reminiscence Therapy. This approach involves guided reflection on past experiences, relationships, and life events. It encourages individuals to explore their personal narratives, connect with their past, and find meaning and purpose in their life stories (Gitterman & Knight, 2019).
Reminiscence Therapy is holistic in several ways:

Cognitive Stimulation: Recalling memories and sharing stories can enhance cognitive function and memory recall.

Emotional Processing: Reflecting on past experiences can facilitate emotional processing and resolution of unresolved grief or trauma.

Social Connection: Sharing memories with others can foster social connection and reduce feelings of isolation.

Identity and Self-Esteem: Revisiting life achievements and meaningful experiences can strengthen a sense of identity and purpose.

Spiritual Well-Being: Exploring life stories can facilitate reflection on spiritual beliefs and values.
By addressing these various dimensions of well-being, Reminiscence Therapy promotes a sense of wholeness and can enhance the quality of life for elderly/aging individuals. It recognizes that aging is not just about physical decline but also about finding meaning, connection, and purpose in the later stages of life.
