For your second major essay, you will compose a researched analysis of one of the texts we’ve studied since the due date of the last paper. You will make a specific claim about the text (interpretation, argument about its larger significance, etc.). You will need to create a strong, clear, and concise thesis statement, and the body of your essay will need to support that statement. Your thesis statement will articulate what you’re arguing about the text, how you’re going to prove your argument, and why it matters. You will defend the thesis statement by closely reading (quoting and analyzing) the text and, where appropriate, incorporating scholarship and secondary sources. So, in addition to the text, you will need to cite at leastthree sources (one must be scholarly). As always, properly cite your sources following MLA style guidelines.
