Guidelines:
You
are a first year school psychologist graduate student who will be
sharing information with undergraduate psychology majors regarding a
current issue in the field of school psychology. In this paper you
will research and discuss
a current contemporary issue in school psychology (i.e., school-based
disciplinary practices, culturally responsive assessment or teaching
practices; inclusive opportunities in schools; school-based
interventions for social-emotional learning; school climate and
culture; mental health interventions, etc.). You will outline
the benefits, challenges, and future outlook of one current issue
that is of interest to you.
1.
Select one current contemporary issue to research. (Use the National
Association of School Psychologists “NASP”, Textbook, or American
Psychological Association “APA” websites to consider topic ideas

).In summary
-You
will introduce the topic and why it is important to the field of
school psychology.
-You
will review your focus areas and each of the current research
studies/articles you found.
-Conclude
with a summary and future outlook with next steps in this area.

Locate and review 5 or more research articles. Make sure to cite them
within the text, and on a reference page.
-In
your review of the research make sure to include the
benefits/positive outcomes, challenges, and future outlook or next
steps.

Your paper must be well organized and include an introduction with a
thesis statement.
A
thesis statement should:
-focus
your idea/topic into one or two sentences
-include
information about your topic as well as a position about that topic
-tell
the audience what the paper is about, and help guide your writing to
keep your thoughts focused
4.
Remember to include a conclusion that ties all the information
together, and includes future areas to investigate and the future
outlook for the topic.
5.
Paper must be 7-10 pages in length (not including the references)
6.
Paper must be written in APA format.
Remember:
APA
format is written third person (No “I” “me” or “we”.)
Double-spaced,
1” margins, 12-point font
Reference
page must be included
If
it is not your original idea, give the correct researcher the credit
and cite them! Try not to quote verbatim. If you do this too
frequently your paper reads as a long list of quotes, instead of
using the research to guide your message
