Ask a rhetorical or hypothetical question or two or make a comment relating to the two stories.
Write your two-part thesis sentence. Use the paper starters ½ sheet for ideas. Include the What (your interpretation) and the How (the literary element(s) used). Mention the titles in quotation marks and the authors.
Body Paragraphs (4 paragraphs long: 1 paragraph for each piece of evidence-2 for first story and 2 for second story)
Write a topic sentence that mentions the literary element under discussion.
Quote from the first story to support or back up what you wrote in the topic sentence.
Use a transition word such as “Similarly” or “Likewise,” then quote from the second story to show the similarities.
Explain in detail how the quoted words from the stories support or back up your thesis sentence.
Conclusion (1 Paragraph long)
Write a conclusion that restates your thesis in some way and that reinforces how your analysis has illuminated the meaning of the work.
