For your
second position paper, write an integrative paper that articulates your
personal theoretical orientation to counseling.
Your paper
should deal with the following aspects: key concepts of your approach, view of
your role as a clinician, therapeutic goals, relationship issues, and central
techniques and methods. Your personal therapeutic orientation will be what you
select from the theories presented in the text and class.
Specific
areas that require your opinion:
1) What is healthy
functioning/development?
2) What are characteristics/factors that
can result in persons’ dysfunction?
3) How does change/growth occur?
4) What intervention techniques
facilitate change/growth?
Refer to issues of concern in this paper.
You are required to cite your textbook.
Peer-reviewed, appropriate outside sources are encouraged but not required. All papers must be submitted as Word
documents. They must be typed in 12-pt. Times New Roman font, double-spaced,
approximately 3-5 pages in length, and commensurate with APA (7th ed.) format
and reference style. They should include a title page, an introduction, and
appropriate section headings. A reference page (and in-text citations) is necessary
if citing from the course textbook or other sources. Papers largely involve personal
opinion, so content will not be evaluated as “right” or
“wrong” (unless there is an inaccurate reference to theory, etc.).
