Assignment: Archaeology in Action

1.  Who are the groups that are working on the wreck sites?  Where in the United States are they working?  What’s unique about the region, archaeologically?

2.  Describe the process of training and steps in research that are taken in the video.  Are there any methods that are interesting or surprising to you?

3.  Describe the significance of the Henrietta Marie. When was it was discovered? What was recovered from the wreck?

4.  Describe the significance of the Guerrero and Nimble.  How were the researchers able to find possible remains? What were some of the artifacts recovered and brought back to the conservation lab? 

5. What were the two major technologies used for deep water analysis?  

6. What do you think are some of the pros and/or cons of doing archaeological research with volunteers?  What about this particular case?  Would you ever be interested in doing underwater archaeology?
