This is your chance to explore the concept of Rhetorical Analysis using your own voice (literally). For this assignment, you will be composing a SONIC (using sound) rhetorical analysis of a song of your choice. You will analyze the lyrical and instrumental meaning behind the song(s)- solely examining their rhetorical aspects. Remember, for a rhetorical analysis you are not arguing what the musicians are saying but rather how they are saying it. You should be analyzing the lyrical presentation, instrumentation, vocalization and theatricality of the two differing artists to find out how they effectively say their messages (or lack thereof). You should give brief biographical information concerning the two artists before your rhetorical analysis begins. For this assignment, you are expected to compose a 5-7 minute sonic rhetorical analysis with an accompanying outline (should be between 3- 4 pages) of your sonic essay that includes ALL sources you use(d). Use an APA style reference page. You can use your phone, computer, tablet- whatever technology you want to compose your sonic essay.
