Essay # 2: Developmental Interviews
Description:
Interview 3 people who are in different life stages (and ages). For example, you may choose a teenager, young or middle-aged adult, and an older adult (you may answer the questions yourself as the first interview). Try to choose at least one male and one female. Use the following questions and add three other questions that you have developed.
Questions:
What accomplishments in your life are you most proud of and WHY?
What is your biggest challenge in your life now? How will you deal with it?
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Where will you be and what will you be
doing?
What has been the most difficult time in your life so far and how did you deal
with it?
What do you think the biggest problem is with today’s society and how would
you go about solving it?
Who is your role model (or hero) and WHY?
Which presidential candidate do you like the best? Why?
Choose a value based question (example: what is your person view on abortion,
right to homosexual marriage, euthanasia, capital punishment, etc.)
Plus 3 additional questions you created.
Analysis of three interviews:
1. According to Jean Piaget, what is the cognitive development stage of each interviewee? Provide quotes from each interview that support your choice of stage.
2. According to Lawrence Kohlberg, what is the moral development stage of each interviewee? Provide quotes from each interview that support your choice of stage.
3. According to Erik Erikson, what is the stage of psychosocial development of each interviewee? Provide quotes from each interview that support your choice of stage.
