U.S.
transportation and border security are mission critical aspects of ensuring the
safety of American society. Therefore, many initiatives and policies have
been implemented since the attacks of 9/11 to reduce the risk of hostile actors
who wish to enter the U.S. and cause harm and destruction. Some of these
initiatives are highlighted in the weekly readings (See McElreath
Chapter). For
this week’s discussion, summarize 1 border security and 1 transportation
security initiative or policy that has been implemented. Explain what DHS
agency is responsible for implementing the initiative and their roles and
responsibilities. Next, explain the policy debates related to this policy
or initiative. Finally, explain what challenges DHS has faced in
implementing this initiative and/or policy. Include course readings in
your initial post as well as other sources.
