TOPIC: INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS
Annotated Bibliography
Students are required to submit an annotated bibliography of at least 3 journal articles and 2 internet sources related your chosen topic (topics approved the 8th week of class), to be used in the final presentation. Therefore, the PowerPoint presentation and bibliography are on the same topic. And, the articles you find and use for the bibliography would be the references you use for your presentation; you do not need to find additional or different references for each.
An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. Annotations summarize the central theme and scope of the book or article, and can also include additional sentences that (a) evaluate the authority or background of the author, (b) comment on the intended audience, (c) compare or contrast this work with another you have cited, or (d) explain how this work illuminates your bibliography. You are to attach a two-page “mini” research paper to the end of your bibliography. The research paper will discuss your references and compare and contrast the research you utilized.
A sample bibliography ( minus the required two-page mini research paper) will be posted to assist you in completing this assignment accurately and understanding what it entails specifically. Please be mindful this assignment will be assessed by Turnitin, as will the PowerPoint presentation.
Turnitin is a resource that analyzes papers/literature reviews/bibliographies etc. for references and citations used inappropriately with the primary goal of preventing students from knowingly or unknowingly using the work of others without proper citing, which is considered plagiarism. It provides a percentage score for how much of a paper is someone else’s work. In this course, any score above 25% will be deemed too high and consequently, students will be given a 0. However, students do have the opportunity to view their scores, correct papers, and resubmit work before the due date and time. This would mean the paper would need to be submitted ahead of the due date to allow time to resubmit, I suggest you allow at
minimum 48 hours for Turnitin to post your percentage score, as sometimes it can be slow. Thus, it is highly recommended that you do not submit at the last minute, as this would prevent you from seeing your score in time to make changes, if needed, or before the work is to be graded. This assignment= 25 points. Due November 7 by 11:59 pm.
