Transfer personal statement

All applicants must write a personal statement and submit it
with the transfer application for admission. The personal statement should be a
comprehensive narrative essay outlining significant aspects of your academic
and personal history, particularly those that provide context for your academic
achievements and educational choices. Quality of writing and depth of content
contribute toward a meaningful and relevant personal statement.
You should address the
following topics in your personal statement. Within each subtopic, such as
Academic History, write only about what is meaningful to your life and
experience. Do not feel compelled to address each and every question.

Tell us about your college
career to date, describing your performance, educational path and choices.
Explain any situations that may
have had a significant positive or negative impact on your academic
progress or curricular choices. If you transferred multiple times, had a
significant break in your education or changed career paths, explain.
What are the specific reasons
you wish to leave your most recent college/university or program of study?
Your major &
career goals
Tell us about your intended
major and career aspirations.
Explain your plans to prepare
for the major. What prerequisite courses do you expect to complete before
transferring? What led you to choose this major? If you are still
undecided, why? What type of career are you most likely to pursue after
finishing your education?
How will the UW help you attain
your academic, career and personal goals?
If you selected a competitive
major, you have the option of selecting a second-choice major in the event
you are not admitted to your first-choice major. Please address major or
career goals for your second-choice major, if applicable.
Cultural
Understanding
Our families and communities
often define us and our individual worlds. Community might refer to your
cultural group, extended family, religious group, neighborhood or school,
sports team or club, co-workers, etc. Describe the world you come from and how
you, as a product of it, might add to the diversity of the University of
Washington.

Format
Content, as well as form,
spelling, grammar and punctuation, will be considered. Suggested length is
750-1000 words.
Online application: You should write your
statement first in a word processing program (such as Word) or a text
editor, and then copy/paste it into the text box provided on the
application. All line breaks remain. However, some formatting maybe be
lost, such as bold, italics and underlines. This will not affect the
evaluation of your application.
PDF application (spring
applicants only): Type
or write your statement on 8.5’’ x 11’’ white paper. Double-space your
lines, and use only one side of each sheet. Print your name, the words
“Personal Statement” and the date at the top of each page, and attach the
pages to your application.
Tips
Tell us who you
are
Share those aspects of your
life that are not apparent from your transcripts. In providing the context for
your academic achievements and choices, describe your passions and commitments,
your goals, a personal challenge faced, a hardship overcome or the cultural
awareness you’ve gained. Tell us your story. Be concise, but tell the whole
story.
Be specific
Personal statements too often
include sentences such as “I’ve always wanted to be a Husky” or “My whole
family attended the UW.” Although this may be important to you personally, such
reasons are not particularly valuable to the Admissions staff because they do
not tell us anything distinctive about your experiences and ultimate goals.
Write like a
college student
Your personal statement
should reflect the experience and maturity of someone who has already attended
college. It should reflect your understanding of the components of an
undergraduate education, such as general education and the major. We want to
read how, specifically, your academic and personal experiences fit into your
academic, career and personal goals.
Keep in mind
We want to know about your
intended major and career aspirations, and we want to know your plan to
get there.
You have the option of
selecting a second-choice major. If you do, be sure to address it in your
personal statement.

ESSENTIAL STEPS FOR WRITING A TRANSFER ESSAY:
Establish some of your core values.
Explain
why you chose your current school (the one you’re leaving) in
the first place.
Offer specific reasons why you want to leave
your current school.
Show how you’ve made the best of things in
your current situation.
What do you want to do/be/study? (aka: What’s
your dream?)
Outline how the new school (the one you’d like
to transfer to) will help you realize your dream.
Close it out short and sweet. Bonus points if
it’s in a memorable way.

This is the content of my story. I need you based on the
content of my story to write a Transfer personal statement in accordance with
the requirements of the school above (I have attached the required content of a

Transfer personal statement
Maybe
since I was born, I was not fortunate enough to live in a good condition like
others, so I had many difficulties in studying conditions. Many generations of
my family have not had a college degree, so I am very eager to go to school and
get a college degree. I want to fulfill this dream to shape my future. Learning
orientation tells my younger brother and sister that only the path of study
will lead us to the path of success in life. Only the new learning path gives
us the thinking to act and think to behave with the people around us in the
best way. At the same time, I also want to affirm to them that the Learning
Path not only helps us develop ourselves but also contributes to the
development of society. we become useful people to society and do not have to
become a burden to society. These are all the reasons for me to fulfill my
dream of going to university, and even more, wanting to set an example for my
younger brother and sister to follow in order to study well to become useful
people in society.
Nearly
three years ago, my family was fortunate to settle in the US. With the help of
the US government, I can continue to study to fulfill my dream. To fit my
condition, I chose Tacoma Community College to study. Tacoma Community College
is a school with quality training and transfer programs to many universities. I
study at this school which is very close to where my family lives so I can save
money on commuting and rent. On the other hand, I can take care of my family,
as well as help my younger brother and sister with their education in the first
stage of settling down. I also have many difficulties in balancing family life
and school, but I am very fortunate to have the support and encouragement of my
family. That’s why I chose Tacoma Community College to study.
I
graduated from high school in Vietnam before I settled in, so I can’t apply
directly to the university to study. I planned to earn a college degree that
suits my requirements by choosing a college to study and completing
prerequisite courses. I will then be eligible to transfer to the university.
When I enrolled at Tacoma Community College, I signed up for the joint transfer
program from Tacoma Community College to the University of Washington (UW
Seattle). I made the right choice when I enrolled at Tacoma Community College.
I have received help from the school in general and the teachers directly
teaching me particularly. they were very enthusiastic in helping and imparting
knowledge about the subjects so that I could successfully complete all the
prerequisite courses to be eligible to transfer to the University of Washington
(UW Seattle) in the correct affiliate program. Now I have implemented the plan
that I set out before, and my family has adjusted to the present life and it is
time for me to make the next plan for getting a university degree at the
University of Washington (UW Seattle).
My
main source of income while living in Vietnam is working as a construction
worker. In order to get the money from this job, I traded it with my own muscle
strength. When I see how the engineers working at the construction site make me
aspire and dream to become an engineer just like them. Since then, I have
always nurtured my longing dreams and determination to fulfill them. In my
opinion, Engineering is a great profession and one of its biggest advantages is
being able to support me in my daily life and doing the things I love. .. Engineering
is a creative outlet – a great field for independent thinkers. History has
proven with many amazing innovative inventions from engineers. I can work with
great people, Engineering is teamwork, I will have to collaborate with many
different people, both inside and outside the field. Whether they are
designers, architects, supervisors, technicians, doctors or entrepreneurs, they
are intelligent and inspirational people. Engineers have the ability to earn a
lot of money, Engineers are not only respected but also well paid. Even the
starting salaries for new engineers are quite impressive. Flexible in career
choices, the Engineering degree gives me many options on the path to finding a
job. For employers, a technical degree proves that a person is highly educated,
taught to analyze and solve problems logically. An engineer fresh out of
college can work in business, design, production operations, research… These
are all reasons why I aspire to be an engineer. I decided to become a civil
engineer following my passion in this field. I have assessed my passion for the
profession over the years I have worked at construction sites in men’s jobs. I
am very determined to pursue this field of study to fulfill my passion.
A
construction engineer is a person who is capable of consulting construction,
calculating structures, and executing construction works. To be able to
actively plan, design, organize construction, supervise and manage construction
projects, manage construction investment, and receive advanced technologies, a
Civil Engineer must perform high expertise. My goal is to study well to become
a professional engineer with a high level of expertise. To have all of this
requires me to choose the right school to study. The University of Washington
(UW Seattle) is the place that can help me with all of that. One of the reasons
that I chose the University of Washington (UW Seattle) is the quality of
training and the large school in this state, the ability to find a job after
graduation. On the other hand, I want to affirm my worth and My family is very
proud when I study at the University of Washington (UW Seattle).
In
my opinion, education is the fastest way out of poverty and the shortest way to
prosperity. It’s not something I picked up from the book or the movie, but from
the reality that I’ve experienced in my life. It’s still too little to be
conclusive, but just long enough to chart the path for the average person to go
from empty-handed to career and bottom to successful. When I look around and
wonder and try to figure out something is set without knowledge. This earth is
only stone until human intelligence turns it into tools. We observe the society
we live in, someone succeeds without learning. From teachers, doctors, or
engineers… All are products of education. When we take off all the things that
cover our bodies, our most valuable asset lies in our brains. It’s the only
thing we have left when everything around disappears. With that knowledge, we
can begin to build a life for ourselves and from there grow. With my
determination and passion, I will succeed in getting a university degree with a
major in civil engineering.
