Dealing With Data
Data-based decision making is a pillar in the field of ABA. As a BCaBA you will collect data and use that data (under the supervision of a BCBA) to determine if your current course of action is appropriate or needs any changes.
For this discussion, choose and respond to two of the following questions:
What do you think is the most important reason to use data to make decisions and why?
How do you use data to determine if changes (minimal or extreme) should be made?
What are some ways that you can talk with caregivers or teachers when discussing the importance of collecting data?
What should you do if you suspect that the data being collected are inaccurate?
What are some ways that you can overcome push back from caregivers or teachers when it comes to data collection or altering an intervention based on that data collection?
How could you approach your BCBA supervisor in a professional manner, if you believe the data are not being collected on the right aspect of a particular behavior?
