– Lakers and Socios.com to offer more social-focused fan engagement interactions
– Socios.com has more than 90 sports properties on its roster
The Los Angeles Lakers have become the latest National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise to partner with Chiliz-owned fan engagement platform Socios.com.
The agreement between the pair will look to create more opportunities for fans to engage through social-focused interactions, with Socios.com designated as the presenting sponsor of the Lakers’ official fan group on Facebook.
Content sponsored by Socios.com will also be featured across the Lakers’ Twitter Polls and, in addition to broadcast-visible signage, the platform will serve as an official sponsor of the Lakers 2K gaming team and G League outfit the South Bay Lakers.
The addition of the Lakers continues Socios.com’s aggressive push into the sports sponsorship space, where it now has partnerships with 24 of the NBA’s 30 teams. Overall, Socios.com has a network of more than 90 sports properties on its roster, with deals covering the likes of soccer, Formula One, cricket, mixed martial arts (MMA) and esports.

Tim Harris, the Los Angeles Lakers’ president of business operations, said: “As an organisation that places great importance on serving and engaging with our fans, we are excited that Socios.com has a shared perspective and will help support our initiatives to serve the Lakers fanbase.”
Staying in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs have penned a partnership with UK-based gambling brand Bet365, which includes the launch of a new free-to-play game enabling fans to win prizes and exclusive experiences.
With sports betting not legalised in the state of Texas, the Spurs and Bet365 will instead look to engage supporters through the ‘Call Your Shot’ game, which will be available from 20th October via the team’s official mobile app.
Starting with free credits, fans can submit their predictions for each regular season Spurs game for a chance to win more credits on the game. The more credits fans accumulate through correct projections, the more opportunities they will have to win exclusive raffle prizes, although every person who plays will have a chance to win.
As well as the Call Your Shots offering, Bet365 will also be integrated into advertising and signage throughout the AT&T Centre, as well as having a presence on the Spurs’ website and social channels.
The partnership is the first of its kind for Bet365 with an NBA team.
