Case Scenario 1: Kiran is a 17-year-old adolescent female who recently immigrated to the United States with her 1-month-old daughter and 18-month-old son. Her parents are struggling to find work, and Kiran has come to the clinic to have her children checked for well-baby exams and immunizations. Her mother accompanies her to the clinic but does not speak English. Kiran has a heavy accent, but you can understand almost everything she says. Given all the family stressors, she asks that you check her children to ensure they are reaching developmental milestones.
