Post your comments and thoughts on what Johnson (2024) states about ethics in Chapters 2-3 by discussing the following:

· Define the views on ethical leadership as provided by Johnson in the text. Share an example of a situation where ethical leadership was applied or called for its application.

· Identify and briefly describe one of the main tenets of your organization or profession’s code of ethics where you work or plan to be a member.

Reminder: To receive credit for a posting, your response must be substantive in content reflecting knowledge and application of the topic. Your response must be at least 100 words and must include a minimum of two supporting references. Additionally, a minimum of two responses to your classmates must extend the conversation. Step 1: Read and Understand the Text

Focus on Chapters 2-3 of Johnson (2024).
Take notes on ethical leadership definitions, principles, and examples mentioned in the book.
Identify key terms like integrity, accountability, moral courage, transparency, and ethical decision-making.

Step 2: Define Ethical Leadership

Start your discussion by clearly defining what Johnson (2024) states about ethical leadership.
Example phrasing:

“According to Johnson (2024), ethical leadership involves guiding others by consistently modeling integrity, fairness, and moral courage. Ethical leaders prioritize doing the right thing, even when facing organizational pressures or personal risk.”
Use one real-life or hypothetical example where ethical leadership was applied:
- Example: A nurse manager reports a medication error honestly, ensuring patient safety and fostering a culture of transparency, even though it could reflect poorly on their unit.

Step 3: Identify a Professional Code of Ethics Tenet

Choose one main tenet from your profession’s code of ethics.
Examples (if you are in nursing):
- Beneficence: Nurses have a responsibility to do good and act in the best interest of patients.
- Autonomy: Patients have the right to make informed decisions about their care.
- Nonmaleficence: Nurses must avoid causing harm.
Briefly explain how this tenet relates to ethical leadership in practice.
- Example: “The principle of beneficence aligns with ethical leadership because leaders must advocate for patient well-being and support their team in providing safe, high-quality care.”

Step 4: Support Your Points With References

Include at least two scholarly references beyond Johnson (2024).
Examples:

Step 5: Write Your Discussion Post

Structure (100+ words minimum):

Opening Sentence: Define ethical leadership using Johnson (2024).
Middle Paragraph: Share an example of ethical leadership applied in practice.
Next Paragraph: Identify and describe a tenet of your profession’s code of ethics and connect it to leadership.
Closing Sentence: Summarize the importance of ethical leadership in professional practice.

Step 6: Respond to Classmates

Write at least two substantive responses.
Extend the conversation by:
- Asking clarifying questions
- Providing an additional example
- Sharing a personal reflection or insight
Cite at least one reference in each response. Avoid just agreeing or giving “kudos.”

Example response:
