Media psychologists can work in many fields, such as advertising and marketing.

Fill out the Media Psychology Chart.  Please ensure the first 2 are types of social media (immediately listed), the next are the specific platforms, the chart template to me is slightly misleading (Dr. Thompson)_

Address these as social media types, not specific brand platforms.

Then, choose 2 specific social media platforms for each type of social media you selected. Some examples include:

  • Meet Up
  • Other – one that you use

For each platform, address the following:

  • What is the platform’s purpose?
  • How do people typically use the platform? Provide examples.
  • What are possible ethical challenges associated with using the platform?

Include a source for each social media platform.

Format the sources according to APA guidelines.

  1. Select Social Media Types First

    • Examples: Social Networking, Microblogging/Influencing

    • Make sure you address them as types, not brands.

  2. Choose Two Platforms Per Type

    • Examples:

      • Social Networking → Facebook, Instagram

      • Microblogging → TikTok, Twitter/X

  3. Explain Each Platform’s Purpose
