For your culminating activity, you will be demonstrating your understanding of the themes of “Just Mercy” through a comparative assignment that involves at least one other piece of media (novel, short story, album, song, visual art, film, podcast, documentary). There are two different components: a formal comparative essay and a short presentation. You are encouraged to select your own secondary source, but specific options will be discussed in class if you need suggestions. If you struggle to come up with a theme-based essay, you are welcome to do a comparison between either the plot or one of the characters in the two texts. However, if you choose to do this option, you will not be eligible for a grade higher than 80%.
