This discussion post has two parts.
Part 1 Team
Clinical care has become more complex and specialized in the U.S. healthcare delivery system. It demands that health care practitioners undertake complicated health services and learn new care models and methods. No longer is one specific health professional responsible for the patient’s health outcomes. A healthcare team consists of multidisciplinary professionals such as doctors, nurses, and other health professionals from a variety of specialties who work together, communicate often, and share resources.

Part 2 Communication
Proper communication is a critical aspect of performing as a professional. Especially in health care organizations, poor communication often leads to issues in patient safety and quality of care. A health care organization is the sum of all its parts and each person brings a unique life experience and culture to the process. As we realize our personal communication competency, we can increase our effectiveness by understanding barriers to valuing diversity and positive approaches that are helpful in increasing understanding.
