Two children stack blocks and add a parking garage next to their skyscraper. There is a noisy debate about which side will connect to the street. Robert insists, “There are lots of cars so the door has to go that way.” Mr. Sanchez asks, “Will the blocks reach to the street? How many more blocks do you need?” Roberto looks at his drawing then stares at the blocks. He says, “Maybe ten.”
Mr. Sanchez asks, “Why do architects design tall buildings? Why cant’s the designs be flat and spread out?” Wanda answers, “There’s not enough space.”
“That’s right,” says Mr. Sanchez. “The architect creates buildings that go up to use the space in the air instead of on the ground.”
