Once you’ve finished reading Through the Glass, you must now apply this story to what you have learned in class in a book review. This paper should be approximately 5-6 pages in length (double-spaced), not including the title or reference pages. Be sure to cite in APA format if you use any direct quotes. Use the following outline/questions below to help guide your writing.
Lastly, please use the template (see attached file below) to structure your paper.
First, briefly discuss your initial thoughts about the book (introduction – 1 paragraph).
Provide an overview/summary of the book (approximately 2-3 pages). Make sure to discuss the timeline of the book and how the story progressed (beginning – middle – end). Highlight major characters and events.
Using your textbook and other course materials, apply terms, concepts, and other info from the course to the story (approximately 2-3 pages). Did you see examples of restorative justice throughout the story? Did you see times where restorative justice practices could/should have been used? If so, what impact would it have had? Using this story, how might have restorative justice helped limit the failures of the CJ system that victims, offenders, and community members encountered? Don’t forget to provide specific examples from both the story and your course materials in your application!
Conclude your paper by briefly discussing what you got out of the book and whether you would recommend it to others (and why or why not).
