Instructions: You are to write one essay. Your essay will be approximately 1200 words in length (footnotes do not count as part of the wordcount).
You will read and analyze the posted selection from Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity is Near. You are to analyze it from C.S. Lewis’ perspective and explain whether C.S. Lewis would agree or disagree with Kurzweil’s argument. You may use any of the readings from the course but stick to the assigned readings.
Remember that this not about whether you agree with Lewis or Kurzweil, but what Lewis would think of Kurzweil’s overall argument and its various portions. When you make a claim about what Lewis would think, back it up with a citation.
Citations: The first time you cite an individual work in each essay, provide a full Chicago-Turabian style footnote. Here is the link to the Chicago manual of style.

After your first citation for each book, each subsequent citation can be a parenthetical in-text citation with the author’s name and page number referenced. For example, a parenthetical citation would look like (Mr. Cloud, 1). Use of texts: I expect you to use support from a variety of the readings. Make sure to refer to That Hideous Strength.
Writing Expectations: I expect clear theses and well-written arguments with direct support from the texts. Your space is limited so avoid long quotations. You do not need to summarize the novels for me.
You are writing an analytical essay. This means you are directly answering the question. You are not telling me what you liked or disliked about the readings.
