Description of the cource
This course examines the contours of the jihadi terrorist movement with the aim of understanding
historical, ideological, economical as well as strategic and operational characteristics that define it. A
heavy emphasis is placed on exploring the ideological and strategic debates within the movement, as
well as national, regional, and international events that contribute to these debates.
Reflection Papers (20 %)
• The reflection papers will provide review and critique of the readings. In addition, you are
required to write two related questions at the end of the reflection papers.
• In the reflection paper, you should relate the readings to each other, when the readings are
related to the same topic.
• The reflection paper must cover all the “Required Readings”.
• The reflection papers should be about 1 page long.
