Please watch the movie “(Ordinary People)” directed by Robert Redford. (Please watch the movie and don’t use online materials). The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with the opportunity to apply Family Life Cycle Theory. As a part of this demonstration, you will be required to translate theory to clinical practice. Please do an analysis in which you address the following:
PART 1) SUMMARY: a) Provide a summary of the movie. (Please make sure it is brief)
b) Identify the horizontal and vertical problems depicted in the film. (please see the attached document, it will explain the horizontal and vertical stressors).
PART 2) ASSESSMENT:
a)    Describe what is constraining the family life cycle stages for each of the main characters in the film. (Life cycle stages refer to the phase of the life cycle that the client is in (i.e., transitions, emerging young adults, families with children; singlehood, divorce, death, etc.) and if that client is engaging in normative tasks of that specific life stage they are in and/or the shifts in their status, roles, rules, and relationships)
b)    Select the main character from the film (Conrad). How would you diagnose this character? Be sure that your diagnosis includes the specific DSM criteria from the following: Depressive disorders. (pg. 177 in the DSM 5 book which I uploaded it. Please choose only one disorder from the group of depressive disorders. (I personally think he has major depressive disorder) Please explain in the paper why you chose it by talking about why this diagnosis is the best option and its criteria and include the symptoms explained in the DSM 5)
Part 3: TREATMENT CONSIDERATIONS:
a)    What treatments or interventions are you thinking  for this diagnosis (I uploaded a document that has many goals and interventions so you can use as an example)
b)    Reflect on how you would proceed in therapy (choose between individual, couple, or family therapy) based on life cycle issues and your diagnosis. Use your best judgement.
c)    Explain how your approach would be different based on dimensions of diversity (e.g., inequality, social justice, race, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.)
