Write a literature review that contextualizes your research question in a summary of research relevant to your topic that has been done to date.
Qualitative research question:
“What is the relationship between Comprehensive Sexual Health Education taught in public schools in the US and including a pleasure-based curriculum?” <---needs revising
Or
"What are the social impacts and outcomes of Comprehensive Sexual Health Education including pleasure-based curriculum?" <--this might be the better of the two.
(The Netherlands have the best sex education program with the best sexual-health outcomes to use as reference)
Find and review 8 scholarly journal articles to understand the state of the literature related to your topic (for example, if you are interested in a specific social problem, what is known about the problem as it relates to your specific research question? If you are investigating the impact of a program, what is known so far about how effective the program (or similar programs) is, and/or who is it effective for?) Review the literature to identify key variables that influence the problem, relevant measures that you might consider using in your own project, and other findings and gaps in the research related to this problem. Make a note of methods and measures that may be important for you to integrate later into your own mini study design. In your literature search, use empirical/scholarly sources - those that describe research studies (i.e., if it doesn’t have methods and results/findings sections, then do NOT use it).
Based on your review and your specific research question, write a 4-5 page (excluding references) literature review, using APA format, that introduces the importance of your topic and summarizes what is known about it so far.
1. Introduction: This will be the same/updated content as part 1 – a short paragraph outlining the following: 1) what is your topic; 2) why is it important for social workers to study this topic, and 3) what is your specific research question related to this topic.
2. Overview of Major Findings: A review of major findings from studies (at least 6 scholarly, peer-reviewed sources) on your specific topic, including findings that are consistent across studies, and those that differ across studies.
3. Gaps in Current Literature: A description of gaps in the literature specific to your research topic (e.g. what is not known or what has not yet been studied? Are there any research methodology limitations that have hindered study of this topic? Think about what contributions your specific study might make to this knowledge base.)
4. Conclusions: Taken together, what implications do these studies have for future research? What will your study add to, or re-examine in the literature?
5. State Testable Research Questions/Hypotheses: Clearly and specifically describe your research question and/or hypothesis that you develop from what you learned in the literature review.
