Week 2’s assignment, you will create an annotated bibliography of three sources that could be used for your argumentative paper, including at least two articles from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals.
Step 1: From the sources you collected in Week 1, select three sources that could be used for your argumentative paper.
Step 2: Review Week 2 Instructional Materials on how to read and take notes on journal articles as well as how to write an annotated bibliography.
Step 3: For each source, write three annotations (200-250 words each). Each citation should contain all of the following parts:
Summary: Summarize the article. What are its main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is.
Evaluation: After summarizing a source, evaluate it in 2-3 sentences. Is this source valid and reliable, or does it have a bias? Who is the author? Is the author an expert in the field? How does this source compare with other sources in your bibliography? What is the goal of this source?
Application to your paper: Once you’ve summarized and evaluated a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research topic. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research paper? How has it changed how you think about your topic?
Step 4: Ensure your annotated bibliography meets the following requirements:
Topic: At the top of your annotated bibliography, just below the title, indicate your research question you selected in Week
Content: Annotation of 200-250 words, formatted in three single paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct section: summary, evaluation, application.
Length: Three annotations, each with an annotation of 200 – 250 words.
Sources: Three sources related to your research question, including at least two scholarly journal articles. All three sources should be high-quality sources that you can use in your research project.
Annotations: Each annotation should be formatted in three distinct paragraphs with a reference entry in APA format.
Step 5: Check your bibliography for formatting (See the sample bibliography). Incorporate these elements of APA style:
Use one-inch margins
Single-space
Use 12-point Times New Roman font
Reference entries should be formatted with a hanging indent.
Organize the annotated bibliography in alphabetical order, according to the first word of each reference entry.
Step 6: Submit your annotated bibliography to Week 2’s Assignment section by Sunday 11:59 PM PST. Use the following naming convention: LastName_FirstInitial_Course_Assignment_Week. Example: Jones_G_GRC600_Assignment3_Wk3.docx
