Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to develop an in-depth understanding of the occupational therapy practice framework (OTPF-4) within the practice of occupational therapy.

Directions: The student will read and analyze the OTPF-4 then evaluate its connection with occupational therapies history, philosophical base, theory, and sociopolitical climate. The student will then interpret the findings by explaining the interaction of occupation and activity, including areas of occupation, performance skills, performance patterns, context(s) and environments, and client factors.
Each student will read the OTPF-4, then write a critical analysis of the OTPF-4 by completing an essay of four pages minimum. The essay must be in APA format and due on 11/8/2023. On the due date in class, students will participate in a class discussion on the OTPF-4 to include interpretations from the reading, analysis, and application of the OTPF-4 throughout the semester.

Complete a critical analysis by writing an essay (4 page minimum) in APA format addressing the topics listed below:
Origins: When was the OTPF first published and utilized in practice. What document(s) helped develop the OTPF? What organization published the OTPF?
Purpose: What is the overall purpose of the OTPF? Why was the OTPF developed when considering OT history and current OT practice? Why is the OTPF-4 necessary when considering reimbursement?
Application to Practice: Identify how the OTPF-4 is used in current education settings and in clinical practice. How does the OTPF-4 help to define expectations, language, and process within OT practice? How does the OTPF-4 help to explain the value of OT? How does occupation and activity differ from each other when completing an occupational and/or activity analysis?
Reflection: Provide a reflection on the OTPF-4 and its importance to the profession of occupational therapy. Use this section to provide your thoughts, opinions, and impressions of the OTPF-4.
