Grade required A
No plagerisim
The prompt is: Explain Your Own Intersectional Identity.
Do this by first identifying all of the co-cultures you identify with. Be as specific as possible. But don’t share anything if you aren’t comfortable doing so.
This next part is worth the most amount of points. Select a few of your intersectional identities. Then look back at Peggy McIntosh’s article Unpacking The Invisible Knapsack by Peggy McIntosh (1).docxActions (if this link doesn’t work, the reading is also uploaded in the module) and find her numbered list of “Daily Effects of White Privilege.” Look through the list and choose:
2-3 unearned advantages (privileges) that you believe you have because of your intersectional identity. Explain how your intersectional identity creates these privileges for you.
2-3 disadvantages (underprivileged) that are a direct result of your personal intersectional identities. Explain how your intersectional identity creates these disadvantages for you.
I also recommend illustrating some of your points with a personal story, much like the example provided below, if you can fit one in.
Make sure your outline follows the Intro, Body, Conclusion format explained in the module and modeled below in the sample structure.
Format
Single-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins
Use proper indentations and outline symbols for each paragraph.
Labels should also accompany all parts of the speech – I’ll show this to you with an example.
Length: About 1.5 pages. Anything longer than this and you might go over time.
Please submit your outlines as PDFs or Word documents only.
