.You will complete a genogram on your family (3 generations) and write a 3-5 page reflection paper.
In addition to the genogram itself, you will also want to create (a) a “legend” identify symbols peculiar to your paper and (b) a list of “important issues “identify issues such as triangles, recurring issues, nodal events, addictions, medical issues, etc.
You will want to discuss issues such as:significant relationships, triangles, cutoffs, intergenerational transmissions of beliefs and responses, fusions and enmeshments, boundaries, roles, rules, communication patterns, subsystems, reactions to homeostatic challenges, etc., and indicate the critical nodal events in both your personal and family life.
You will also want to make personal application by (a) reflecting on how your family system has impacted you personally in both positive and negative ways, and (b) reflecting on how your family system may impact your ability to be a school counselor in both positive and negative ways.
