For your exercise prescription presentation, you and a partner will need to work

For your exercise prescription presentation, you and a partner will need to work together to design a resistance training session based on client goals and limitations. Your group will choose one person to be the client and one person to be the practitioner, but you will both be involved in the exercise prescription planning process. When you perform the session, the “client” will do the workout while the “practitioner” will lead the participant through the workout including demonstrating movements, monitoring performance, and making any necessary adjustments. After the session, you will both discuss how you felt the workout went and identify strengths and potential areas of improvement to your exercise prescription methods.
Your group will give a 8-10 minute presentation on this process.
Your presentation should include:
1. A brief description of your initial consultation session.
2. A brief description of your client’s goals and how you conducted the goal setting session.
3. A description of how you established your client’s current fitness level and how you identified any potential physical limitations.
4. Give an overview of a projected exercise session that you would design and prescribe.
What are your goals for the session and how do they relate to your client’s main goals?
What physiological systems related to muscle parameters are you targeting with your session?
What exercises did you prescribe and how would did you modify any of the techniques to account for your participant’s limitations?
What intensity/volume did you prescribe and why?
5. Give a summary of the post workout review that you and your partner did. How did you feel like the session went? What did you do well? What would you change?
You are being given the freedom to choose any resistance training prescription you wish, but you will need to justify your design in your presentation to score highly on the project. For example, if you state that your client’s goal is to improve upper body endurance, and then prescribe a lower body workout without any connection to how that relates to your client’s goals, you will receive a grade deduction for inappropriate design.
Clients Limitation
80% recovered from right ankle sprain
Hyperextended left knee a few years ago but client says it does not cause pain
Clients Goals
Add muscle mass
Improve cognitive function and decrease depression
Reduces the risk of heart disease
Improve endurance
Your project will be evaluated using the following percentage totals for each section:
10% Initial consultation
10% Goal setting
20% Baseline testing methods
30% Exercise prescription parameters
10% Post-workout review
20% design and delivery of presentation: Is your presentation interesting and conforms to the specifications (if you talk for 15 minutes, you would receive a deduction here)?
