Role: You have been appointed to be a member of the task force that will redesign the
patient care unit where you are presently working as a staff nurse.
Audience: The new nursing administration team.
Goal: Your goal is to persuade the new Nursing Administration Team to approve your
recommendations for the new nursing unit you have designed.
Situation:
· A small community hospital has recently been bought by a large healthcare
system, and the new nursing administration team has set up a task force to redesign
the patient care nursing unit.
· As part of a member of this task force, you have been asked to determine the
new structure of the nursing unit. The structure chosen must be congruent with the
new mission and values you choose. As part of the redesign, you need to determine
the levels of management and the staff positions needed to deliver quality patient-
centered care, which is evidence-based.
· A group of 2-3 students will work together on the task. The group will be chosen
by the instructor. This will be a group grade.
Product/Performance and Purpose:
 The purpose is to determine a structure that will support how the unit will
provide a safe environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration among
the staff to ensure best practice and quality patient-centered care.
