Read Screenshots 992-997 for instructions and rubric. You will be making a SPEECH about the Homeless in California (or any city or state you prefer) and persuading people to do something about it. Write the outline and the script for the speech and make a 1-2 minute story about seeing people who are homeless in the streets. Also for the outline of the speech use this document as an example “Comm 200 – Use a Full Sentence Outline for Extemporaneous Speaking.” Don’t forget to use 3 credible sources from well-known articles like the New York Times, or any scholarly article. Choose a position to advocate in relationship to the social issue you are studying.
Prepare a 4-5 minute oral presentation that is intended to persuade your audience to your position, and motivate them to respond to a specific call to action at the end of the speech.
Deliver the speech extemporaneously.
Include a 1-2 minute story (with a beginning, middle and end) to enhance the psychological power of your speech.
Craft a clear thesis statement and outline that demonstrates the logical strengths of your argument and evidence. Note: submit a full-sentence copy of your outline in class on the day of your speech.
You must incorporate 3 credible sources, cited out loud during your speech. Remember: when citing a source in a speech, offer context to why it is relevant, and provide enough information so that your audience can find the source on their own after you’re done.
