The world continues to get smaller and smaller. Today – in 2023, we interact with people from many different countries all around the world. By the way, there are almost 200 countries in the world. Think about how many of those you have been in. I have a friend who has been in over 100.
But even if we have not traveled a great deal, people are coming to us and moving to the US. Even if you think we have major challenges (and I do), people all around the world want to come here. I recently had a residency for international students and had 11 different countries represented.
Think about how all this interaction affects your communication behavior. What are some of the challenges and opportunities that have developed and will continue to develop because of the US continuing to be a nation of immigrants?
