We can define art in many ways, from considering the sense of beauty to the level of skill and technique it requires to create a work of art. In this DB we will consider some definitions of art by viewing a you tube video: https://youtu.be/b2VpNx5Z×SA. (lf this doesn’t work as a hot link, please copy and paste into your browser).
While viewing the 13 minute video, please write down the definition of art you most agree with, please include the authors name. Post that definition in your initial post and explain 1., why it made the most sense to you and 2., why you agree with it. You can contrast it with a definition that you did not agree with. Please note just stating that you agree with is not explaining why you agree with it. As you select a definition, make sure that you can truly discuss it.
The Art Historian, Sarah Urist Green, moves pretty fast through the video so you may have to watch it multiple times and stop the video so that you can write down the definition you wish to discuss.
You will not be able to see other students threads until you post your initial thread.
After you complete your initial post please respond to at least two other students about their posts. Choose one that discusses a definition that you did not choose. Respond by considering if and how they may have changed your point of view, or not, and explain why. One of the hallmarks of critical thinking is the ability to be educated in order to see another persons perspective.
For full credit you will need to support your points of view. That means more than one sentence. I do not like to give word counts for DB’s, but a good, healthy paragraph for each post is what I will be looking for. I want to see evidence in your posts that shows me that you are considering and thinking about the content of the DB’s. I will also be be paying attention to spelling and grammar, so you should too!
