Students will produce a paper that examines an issue that is important for Catholic social thought consisting of at least 3 pages (900 words). The papers will be typed in double space, 1.25″ left and right margins and 12 pt New Times Roman font. Issues of Catholic social thought include human rights, poverty, homelessness, political isolation/alienation, fairness before the law, warfare, violence, healthcare, criminal justice, and capital punishment, among others. The purpose of this papers is to deepen one’s inquiry into the subject matter by applying, analyzing, comparing, explaining and querying the ways Catholic social thought has been used to address key social, political and economic issues. These are not superficial opinion papers, i.e., what you liked or didn’t like about a particular reading.
