answer the question prompts below with 3-4sentence for each Question’s 1& 2 responses.
1- What personal qualities and attributes can you identify that assist Evan in his pursuits? How do you feel these factor into Evan’s progress as an artist?
2- How has your awareness and/or understanding of contemporary weaving and textile art changed after hearing from Evan?
—————————————-
3- Rebly Response below, 2 to 3 sentense
– I think the personal qualities that helped Evan in his pursuits include being resourceful, hardworking, creative, and determined. These qualities helped factor into his success by possibly reflecting on how determined he was to pursue textiles and weaving as a career considering some people wouldn’t take that initiative to learn. For example, his DIY Loomer, really shows how committed he was and going above and beyond, despite not having the professional Loomer he showed in the video. With his commitment and resourceful shows, he was born an artist with these qualities. Secondly, Evan has attributes that include being hands-on, passionate, skilled, and ambitious. These attributes contribute to his success possibly by trying new things, for example, he tried painting, but he realized painting wasn’t for him, so he didn’t give up after trying one thing, and that ambition and passion are needed to be an artist especially financially too. Another attribute I noticed is that he has his priorities straight because he still calculates how much is being put into his art and having a job too. However, being an artist does take time for it to become completely reliable, so these are good qualities for an artist.
After listening to Evan’s interview my opinion on weaving remains the same in the sense that weaving is fascinating and beautiful however I personally wouldn’t consider taking up weaving into my art career. Although, I have a lot more respect for weavers and textile artists because the creative process seems to require a lot of patience. Also, the process of building a reputation with weaving seems extremely difficult. Considering the variety and demand for new works in shows or just in general as products seem stressful, and tricky considering the financial demands with the dye and the wool required. But I personally wouldn’t mind trying to weave something together.
