Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Clients that suffer from high levels of anxiety and depression, to expose themselves to situations with overwhelming ability to react, perceive, store, retrieve, and make decisions from a right response, can seek therapy from cognitive behavioral counselors for help. The videos that I watched, one in particular, expressed the importance of using cognitive behavior therapies (CBT’s) and rational emotive behavioral therapies (REBT’s) in session approaches to help individuals with their disordered emotions and irrational ways of thinking to manage life. Each of these therapy approaches were very similar to implement with very little differences. Thus, both of these approaches come from the same support platform of cognitive methods to achieve its results. Although, REBT techniques and methods takes individuals to another advancement level of teachings for more effective results. Yet, let’s talk about CBT.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) has received a vast amount of research attention and considerable support (Dobson et al., 2019). Cognitive behavioral therapy has been a huge support for therapist in helping clients change their ways of thinking to healing from signs of depression, anxiety, and dysfunctional emotional behaviors. Actually, how clients act and think affects the way they feel. For example, a suicidal client that suffers from acceptance may find it difficult to cope when being in crowded places. The pressure of acceptance is high and negative thoughts are on the rise. At that point, the client’s mental state is trying to cope, carry, and manage their emotional behavior. Thus, cognitive therapist, depending on the disorder of the clients, are to help in manner of state’s like these. Implementing sessions that conduct activities and actionable events to bring out the client’s inner emotional problems, thoughts, and feelings will bring about a change in their maladaptive way of thinking. When the mind is overcharged with much knowledge, information, and thinking that is trying to rationalize it all, this process sends signals of emotions, feelings, and thoughts throughout their being, causing stress, anxiety, and emotional problems. The approach to CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy can lessen this dysfunctional way of lifestyle.
