I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.
Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.
The response to the classmate need to be just like this.
Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)
RISE Feedback:
REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…” for a more weighted argument?

College Entrance Criteria for…
UC: Meet A-G requirements and have a 3.0 GPA.
CSU: Meet A-G requirements and have a 2.5 GPA.
Community Colleges: Have earned a high school diploma or GED.
Out of state institutions: Differs school by school – some may still require SAT and ACT scores.
This is just a very cursory overview of the different college entrance criteria in California, and nationwide. I think the GPA requirement for UC and CSU campuses stands out a lot. Higher-performing students are definitely favored by the UC system compared to the CSU system. Additionally, UC applications and many out-of-state applications require personal statements whereas the CSU application and community college applications do not. I am actually facilitating a “How to Write a Personal Statement” workshop at a local district next month; personally, I think my personal statements are what got me accepted to UC Berkeley with a full-ride scholarship, so as a school counselor, I plan on working with students to create the best personal statements possible.
Many students in California can now apply to any college in California (UC, CSU, community college) through their CCGI portal if their district partners with CCGI. My district partners with CCGI so we have that capability and their transcripts are automatically uploaded to this portal so they can easily apply.
As I learned at a state-wide financial aid workshop hosted by CSAC this morning, there are changes being made to Cal Grant and Pell Grant. Cal Grant eligible students going to a UC are eligible for more aid than a student going to a CSU or community college since these schools are less expensive. No matter what school you are going to, you still need to fill out the FAFSA, ideally by the priority deadline. There is also the CSS profile for students to receive non-federal aid if they are going to an out-of-state college.

Although they all have their similarities they also do have some requirements that are a little different. One of the main one is that they should all have completed high school or GED before they attempt to attend one of the following. For Community college if they would like to attend they need as mentioned before have a high school diploma or a GED. This is a great option if you are unsure of what school you would like to attend or what career you would like to pursue. This helps you get all the general classes that need to be fulfilled before taking the courses that focus on your major. This is also a chance to try your hardest if you had a lower GPA in high school and get a high GPA in community college that might help you assist that University that you would like to attend. For CSU you have must met the A-G requirements, these are the classes that you take in high school and also making sure that you take the college prep courses. These courses help you get ready for college/University. The GPA that is required to apply to any CSU is a if you are a California resident and for non California Residents it is a 3.0. Of course if there is special circumstances there is a process that you can follow and extra steps for them to consider you. It is like an appeal process where you explain any special circumstances that might have occurred and how it has affected your GPA. It can be hard in some cases depending what program you would like to attend. This is an easier process than a UC system. For UC you must meet the A-G Requirements as well but instead of having a 2.5 GPA requirement, the requirement is a 3.0 GPA. You cannot have any D’s or F’s, you need to pass all your courses with a C or better. It would be ideal to have the best grade possible to be able to have a higher chance of getting accepted. Whatever route you do decide to go, they are all good options and there is no better, just depending on your needs. I personally attended community college and then I attended a CSU since there was a local one to where I live and could not afford to leave my house.
