Assignment Instructions:
In the first three chapters we will have discussed terms often associated with sociology and criminology.
For this assignment, you will be writing a research paper on Travis Hirschi’s Four Elements of social bonds.
YOUR PAPER SHOULD CONTAIN ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CONTENT:
1. A BRIEF BACKGROUND ON TRAVIS HIRSCHI AND THE SOCIAL BOND THEORY
2. EXPLAIN EACH OF HIRSCHI’S FOUR ELEMENTS OF SOCIAL BONDS (Chapter 8)
3. EXPLAIN YOUR OVERALL OPINION ON THE APPLICATION OF THESE FOUR ELEMENTS IN DETERMINING DELINQUENCY
4. DETAIL IN YOUR PAPER WHAT IMPORTANT AND/OR SIGNIFICANT FACTORS LEAD YOU TO YOUR OPINION ABOUT THESE FOUR ELEMENTS. (PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE)
The research paper must be in proper format (introduction, body, conclusion).
There is a lot of information regarding Travis Hirschi’s Social Bond Theory and 4 elements. You will need to include at least 2 additional reference sources other than your textbook for your paper. You also need to include a reference page citing your sources with the research paper.
Your paper will be graded on content, format, grammar, and spelling. The paper needs to be in MLA Format and should be typed in Times Roman Numeral and size 12 font. Refer to the MLA Sample paper in week 0, the research paper assignment tab and at the end of this page.
There will be 60 points for including all 4 of the listed elements and explanations.
There will be 20 points given for including you personal opinion and supporting it by evidence and examples.
There will be 20 points given for submitting your paper in proper format (Introduction, body, conclusion) using paragraphs, transition sentences between your paragraphs, proper grammar and correct spelling, and all resources used. Please make sure to use size 12 font and double space your papers. THIS MUST BE COMPLETED IN MLA FORMAT.
