1. In the Ayers’s and Alexander Tanner’s text, Bill poses the question that I would like to ask you: “What would an environment built around a desire to know and to be look like?” Share your vision for creating a positive learning environment. What would your classroom look like? What kinds of things would you establish in terms of creating a community of caring learners? How would you organize your classroom? How would you instill learner responsibility and maximize your time for optimal learning?
Share your vision by creating your own thread and then respond to a minimum of two peers’ postings on two different days this week.
Note to Kinesiology Majors: Describe your classroom in your minor, not your major.
2. Think about how Bill, Avi, and Sal “build bridges” in their classrooms with students of different ages in today’s society. How do each of these teachers show that they value their students’ opinions, ideas, and experiences. What does their teaching say about their beliefs about power in the classroom? To what extent do you agree with their approaches in these three examples? Why? Why not?
Create your own thread and respond to these to prompts. Then reply to a minimum of two peers’ postings. Remember to log in on two different days this week. Responses should be descriptive and reflective and a minimum of 200 words.
