let’s reflect on some of events that have unfolded. The Allen Police department issued a press release that called into question the credibility of an alleged witness who said he was immediately on the scene, helping w assisting those in medical need. Many local and international news outlets used that information from the alleged witness, with breaking news banners and news follow up
Based on that, do you think a law enforcement agency has a right to ‘call out’ an alleged witness, discrediting their perceived information.
Does the law enforcement agency encourage more informational accountability by ‘calling someone out?” Or does this encourage opposite where alleged eyewitnesses would be discouraged from coming forward?
As a manager of a newsroom digital/on air, what be your policies on this?
Rember, MANY STATIONS RAN THE ALLEDGED WITNESS INFORMATION, PUTTING THEIR CREDIBILITY OFF THE TRACKS
