Presume you were the manager on duty at the time of the shooting how would you have handled the coverage? Every station/digital have some type of an action planned designed to respond to the stories of this type of magnitude. Agile leadership means to act quickly to changing events.
Write up a one-page report detailing an action plan to cover this kind of scenario. Some questions to consider:
Would you call in everyone in an all hand on deck response?
What would be some of the instructions you would give to reporters/technician crews arriving on the scene?
Would you tell your crews to talk to the first person they see or wait until the ‘scene’ stabilizes? **Remember an agile manager always try to secure the safety of their crews first
Would you tell the reporter to first go live and describe what they are seeing and then find eyewitnesses?
When would you put the story up on social media platforms? As soon as word of the story comes in, or wait until more facts come in
