Use Zenmap to Scan Computer
Objectives
Install a vulnerability scan tool
Scan computer to find needed information
Caution: You can only scan your own machine. Don’t scan a public network or your corporate network unless you have a permission in your hand.
Steps
Find tutorials to install Zenmap (List 3 approaches below) Google by “Install zenmap on Windows 10” (You can replace Windows10 by your OS)
Go to nmap.org/download.html
A quick reference at https://geek-university.com/nmap/install-nmap-on-windows/
Takeaway: The easiest approach is to download self-installer and let it take care of everything. But it does not guarantee the latest version of Npcap will be downloaded. Most of the time, it should be fine.
After completing the installation, you can put “localhost” in the target field and click scan button to scan your machine. If it won’t take localhost, then you can try 127.0.0.1 or go to command prompt (i.e., DOS) to issue ipconfig to find your ip address.
Take a whole screenshot that includes the network (i.e., your localhost) to validate your work.
Submission
Upload the screenshot of the localhost scanning (10 points)
